Alternative two-factor authentication methods on mobile, computer and with code generator

The recommended method for two-factor authentication at UiO is Microsoft Authenticator. For more details, see the setup guide for Microsoft Authenticator.

If you can't or won't use Microsoft Authenticator for two-factor authentication, you must use one of the other methods approved by the head of IT security.

Other approved methods for Two-Factor Authentication

Two-Factor Authentication with Google Authenticator

You can use Google Authenticator for two-factor authentication at UiO. For more details, see the setup guide for Google Authenticator.

Two-Factor Authentication on your computer with Enpass

If you do not want to use your mobile phone for two-factor authentication, you can use Enpass on your computer. For more details, see the setup guide for Enpass.

Note! Using this method requires you to have your computer with you at all times to use two-factor authentication for UiO services.

Two-Factor Authentication with SMS

You can use SMS for two-factor authentication. However, be aware that this method is less secure due to the risk of receiving fraudulent text messages.

For more details, see the setup guide for SMS.

Two-Factor Authentication with Code generator

If you can't use the above methods, a code generator might be an option. For more information or to determine if a code generator is the right solution for you, please contact IT-Help.
