Two-factor authentication for Gmail and Google Calendar (Android)

The guide shows how to activate two-factor authentication on your private Android device (phone and tablet) for e-mail and calendar at UiO.

Note! After the activation of two-factor authentication for Android, it will not be possible to use email and calendar programs other than Gmail and Google Calendar.

 

Step-by-step guidance

  1. Open the Gmail app
    • If this is the first time you open the Gmail app, the app will show you a welcome screen,  click skip, and you be presented with an option to "Add an email account". Skip to step 4 
  2. Tap on the account button, then choose Manage account on this device

  3. Select you UiO  account, and tap Remove account
  4. Tap Add account, then choose that you want to create an Exchange account.
  5. Enter your username for MS 365 at UiO in the form username@uio.no.
  6. You will be taken to UiO’s Weblogin page. Enter your password and click Sign in.
  7. Confirm the setup by approving the sign-in request in your chosen authentication app on your mobile device (for example, Microsoft Authenticator or Google Authenticator).
