Sharing sensitive data across projects

Shared project directory is intended for ongoing sharing needs while the project is active and has not yet reached its end date. This allows data from one project to be shared with another project, under controlled access settings.

Example

Let's say a project pXXX has produced a subset of data that is relevant for an ongoing study being conducted in pYYY. In this case, pXXX wants to make this data available (read-only) to pYYY on a shared disk on an ongoing basis. The administrator of pXXX can use the following template to send an email to tsd-drift@usit.uio.no:

I, admin of project pXXX, request the following shared project directory:

Shared project directory: /pXXXsharedpYYY
Shared project directory size (default 1TiB): NNTiB
Shared with (read-only): pYYY

Standard access configuration for shared directories

  • Write access for members of the pXXX-export-group.
  • Read-only access for members of the pXXX-member-group and the pYYY-member-group.
  • No access for all other users.

This template is designed for one-to-one sharing between projects, and shared project directories operate in a one-way manner. Many-to-many sharing is not supported.

  • The standard size of a shared disk is 1 TiB; if more space is needed, this must be specified in the request.

Responsibility of Project Admins

It is the responsibility of the administrators of pXXX and pYYY to report any shared data to the appropriate data protection authority, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations.

Important Notes

TSD does not take responsibility for any misuse of the data-sharing functionality.
