Connecting forms for digital consent signing in Nettskjema

If you link together multiple forms, you can obtain consent and simultaneously get an anonymized dataset. You need to have a TSD project to do this. One of the advantages of digital consent is that a response can be deleted if consent is withdrawn.

Link forms for anonymization

If you set up multiple linked forms, you can avoid having identifiable IDs associated with your dataset. The first form can be a consent form. Remember to collect all personal data along with consent, so that your dataset becomes fully anonymised.

A consent form requires login and signature signing via ID-porten, so if you want to combine this with invitations via email/SMS, you need to create a form for this prior to the consent form.

How to connect forms together

  1. Use form forwarding, which can be enabled in Settings.
  2. Go to Settings and under the heading Forwarding, fill in the form ID you wish participants to be forwarded to. If you enter more than one form ID, Nettskjema will forward to one of the listed forms randomly.
  3. In the form(s) that participants will be forwarded to, go to the form builder tab. Add a new question and choose Reference-ID as the question type. This question is hidden from participants but works like a typical Nettskjema question. This question should not be set as a mandatory question.
  4. Reference-ID shows which response from the first form forwarded.
  5. Test that it works as expected.
  6. The codebook value of the Reference ID can be changed like the other codebook values, regardless of whether the form delivers data to TSD or not.

How to choose signing

  1. First connect both forms to TSD.
  2. Choose the level of identity verification in the first form, this is often a consent form.
    • Use Signing with level 4 ID-porten if the participant is consenting to the collection of national population register data (Folkeregisteret).
    • Or use Signing with level 3 ID-porten
  3. Choose the login without signing but with the same level ID-porten in the next form. Do not ask for participants' Norwegian ID number (f?dselsnummer) in the form. The consent form is the only form that should have a question about the Norwegian ID number, where the question Person-ID can be filled out automatically when logging in with ID-porten. You enable this in the form builder tab, at the bottom of the question after you have enabled signing.
  4. Test that this works as expected.

Register consent in TSD

You need to register your consent form in your TSD project via https://p01-consent-portal.tsd.usit.no/. This website is only available if you are in your TSD-project portal. Note that you must be the project administrator in order to register the consent form in the project.

Each signed file is billed and will be added to the TSD project invoice.

View overview of prices for services in TSD in order to see the cost per signed file.

Consent given to TSD's consent solution are available to the project owner at https://consent-portal.tsd.usit.no. In addition, a copy is sent to the respondent's digital mailbox where they can also change their consent.

This solution is designed for the collection of Black data. Signing is done with level 4 ID-porten, which gives consent to the retrieval of registry data about the participant.

We recommend that you test this thoroughly before starting data collection. Please see the following videos (only available in Norwegian) below.

How to connect the data together from the anonymized forms

If you have multiple anonymized forms that forward to each other, the data can be linked together, for example, in Excel. Read about how to do this (only available in Norwegian).
