On October 24, 2024, dScience held a lunch seminar at the University of Oslo’s Science Library on the question: “Why is public sector digitalisation so difficult?” Magnus Li and Alexander Kempton from the Department of Informatics presented their findings and discussed why so many public sector IT projects fall short. The workshop on "Safety of AI in Energy & Critical Infrastructure" held on March 21, 2024, at NBIM London office, addressed the integration of AI in critical infrastructure and energy systems. The focus was on tackling common challenges and accelerating the safe implementation of AI, emphasising collaboration between the UK and Norway.

The parallel session at Norway Life Science 2024, hosted by dScience on Tuesday, February 13th, drew an engaged audience who actively participated by posing a number of questions to the speakers.

The main takeaway points are that artificial intelligence (AI) significantly enhances life sciences through improved diagnostics, personalised medicine, and accelerated drug discovery, while also emphasising the need for ethical considerations, data privacy, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

The November Conference 2023 was held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil November 6-8. Its theme was Research and Innovation for the Energy Transition, bringing together Norwegian and Brazilian researchers and professionals. Over a decade this conference has established itself as the most important single venue for developing joint research and innovation between the two countries.

OSLO, November 6th - Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI) hosted a closed session in collaboration with dScience and the Norwegian Artificial Intelligence Research Consortium (NORA), bringing together participants from academia, government, politics, and business to discuss AI, regulation, and geopolitics. The discussions were according to the Chatham House rule.

The event welcomed the data science community for an effective blend of socialisation, learning, and entertainment. The UiO Growth House, dScience – Centre for Computational and Data Science, UiO:Life Science and UiO:Energy and Environment are now co-located in Oslo Science Park. ‘Now the units can work more closely together and draw on each other's expertise as well as extract synergies from each other. This gives UiO the opportunity to develop its strategic initiatives and strengthen the innovation thinking’, says UiO's vice-rector for research and innovation Per Morten Sandset.
