FARM4110 – Comprehensive Biopharmacy and Formulation Technology
Course description
Course content
The most important topics in this course are? physico-chemical and biopharmaceutical properties and how these properties affect the production, quality and biological effect of drug formulations. The course provides knowledge on advanced biopharmaceutics. Various formulation principles and dosage forms are also reviewed.
Learning outcome
After completing the course you will:
- have advanced knowledge of the formulation and manufacture, shelf life and quality assurance of galenic preparations.
- have a thorough understanding of preformulation, formulation and biopharmaceutical aspects of drugs, including biological drugs (such as peptides and proteins).
- have a thorough understanding of accelerated durability studies and kinetics.
- be able to discuss the causes of poor bioavailability and / or stability of a preparation and consider which formulation measures must be taken to optimize the formulation with.
- be able to work in groups and present the results in the form of a poster, seminar or equivalent.
Admission to the course
The course is only available to students enrolled at the Department of Pharmacy at the University of Oslo.
