Course content

The course covers the structures of genomes, their expression, replication, and maintenance.

Learning outcome

After the course you should understand:

  • how genomes are analyzed including mapping, sequencing and identification of sequence elements like, for example, genes and repeated sequences.

  • bacterial and eukaryotic expression of genomes and its regulation in transcription and translation.

  • replication of genomes and its regulation in pro-and eukaryotes.

  • damage to genomes and repair mechanisms.

  • recombination of DNA sequences and molecular biology of transposition.

Admission

Students who are admitted to study programmes at UiO must each semester register which courses and exams they wish to sign up for in Studentweb.

If you are not already enrolled as a student at UiO, please see our information about admission requirements and procedures.

Prerequisites

Formal prerequisite knowledge
