As a unfortunate number of students have chosen not to show up for the conference without giving notice, we have changed the schedule. The last session is cancelled, and all presenters from the last session are moved to 1 pm. See the updated schedule.

On Monday 13 April, we will have our student conference. We start at nine, and divide the day into hour-long sessions. Each session will consist of four presentations of ten minutes each. After the presentations, the four presenters sit down at a table and answer questions from the audience.

What should you present? Your topic and your results so far. Your research question, your method, maybe something about earlier research, and, hopefully some early results. If you don't have any results yet, that is fine. Just tell us what you want to do. We hear papers like that on professional international conferences also.

You may use PowerPoint, Keynote or something similar if you want to, but you don't have to. Upload your files to Fronter before the conference begins.

I will divide you into sessions after topic, but if you need to present at a specific time, let me know, and I will try to arrange it.

Dear students, welcome to a new semester! We have a record number of students for this course, and I am very excited.

Social media is a phenomenon where there is yet little concensus, while a lot of research is going on. Instead of being told what we have found out, you will in this class be "apprentice researchers," conducting your own small research projects and reporting on them in a term paper.

We will have five workshops with a mix of lectures and seminar work. Before the first workshop, begin thinking about what you would like to study in your term paper. And please read the articles by Boyd and Ellison, Lüders, and Fish.
