Term paper draft for supervision

You have the right to personal supervision on your term paper. This will take place on Monday 27 April as announced earlier, when each of you can book a 15-minute meeting with me. Before you can be supervised, you need to write something, and I need time to read it.

In order to get supervision, you MUST:

1: upload a term paper draft to Fronter before Friday 17 April at 1 p.m. (this is two days later than announced earlier.). Your last name MUST be part of the filename, or I will loose control.

2: Book your supervision session online. Supervisions will held in my office.

Your paper can be in any stage in the process, from loose fragments to an almost finished paper. Do not feel you have to write “academically” at this stage, just communicate your thoughts. Please indicate what you would like me to help you with.

Here is a simple outline you may use (yet there are many other ways of doing it). Page counts are just indications, most term papers will be different from this:

Introduction: Why your topic is relevant, and your research question. Overview of the paper. 2 pages.

Earlier research: What we already know about the topic. 2 pages.

Method: How you will do your study, including how you selected your material. 1 page.

Results and discussion: What you found, and how it compares to earlier research: 4 pages.

Conclusion: Summary of what you found, pointing out what is most important. 1 page.

Proper references and a literature list is always required. Bad referencing will give you a lower grade. Always state very clearly what is your thinking and what you have read elsewhere. Quotes without quote marks are considered cheating, and will at best lower your grade considerably, at worst get you expelled.

Demonstration of personal judgement, explicit argument and independent thinking is required to get an A or a B.
