Dear INF3490/4490-students,
Thank you for attending the course. It has been a pleasure having you as students, and we hope that you have found the course interesting and relevant. We?ll be happy to have your feedback through the FUI student evaluation system.
Regarding the exam, the faculty now seems to have been able to assign you all to Silurveien (check your StudentWeb for what room you are assigned to).
There will be 80% multiple choice problems on the exam where you select true or false, and 20% where you reply with text (see the slides from the last lecture for how it will look like). We prefer that the text answers are given in English language but we would naturally not reduce the score due to spelling errors as long as the understanding seems to be correct.

Monday 13 November is the last lecture in the course. It will contain a brief overview of the course with focus on practical information. However, we would be open to answer questions and repeat topics in the syllabus based on requests. If you have something you would like us to cover, it would be helpful if you let us know in advance by sending us an e-mail.
Please note that NO materials (including books or handouts) are permitted to be used during the exam. This year the exam would be fully digital, thus, you will read the exam text on a computer and answer by selecting true/false on multiple choice statements and reply with text on the rest of the questions. The format of the exam questions will be much the same as earlier years with a majority of multiple choice questions and some questions to be answered with text.

The second mandatory assignment can be found here. This is an individual assignment. The deadline is October 20th, 23:59.
We have been made aware that people are not getting notified by Devilry by e-mail when they receive feedback on their mandatory assignments. We are in communication with the administration about this, however, in the meantime, it is important for everyone to check if they have received feedback often. This is important so that if you must deliver the assignment again you will have as much time as possible. Everyone should have received feedback on their first attempt within the next few days.
We hope this problem can be fixed in time for the next assignment.

Unfortunately, I forgot to click the "record" button during the first part of lecture 5, so video for that is missing. The good news is, the first part of the lecture is not too complicated, it mainly motivates and introduces machine learning. The technical details are in part 2, which is now online.

It appears that many have not joined the slack yet. This is highly recommended as the discussion there can a valuable resource when you are working on the weekly tasks and mandatory assignments. All of the teaching assistants are also on slack.
