Title: Trends in Applications of Companion Technology to Space Exploration
Speaker: Dr. Adrian Stoica, NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory
Summary of lecture:
This talk focuses on the companionship between humans and intelligent machines in advancing the frontiers of space exploration. The first part presents the most likely destinations for missions over the next 30 years, how those worlds look like, what makes their exploration hard, and where is it likely to have manned missions. The second part examines the companionship of man and machines in understanding and utilizing space in the context of mission scenarios for the likely destinations.
BIO
Adrian Stoica is a Senior Research Scientist, and Group Supervisor of the Robotics Systems Estimation, Decision, and Control at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jet_Propulsion_Laboratory). He has over 30 years of work in intelligent machines, with a strong interest in human-oriented robotics.
