GEO-KJM1040 – Introduction to programming with applications in geosciences and in chemistry
Course description
Course content
This course gives an introduction in how programming can be used for reading, visualising and analysing data and for scientific modelling. The course is adjusted to studies in geosciences, and examples from geosciences are used as starting points for the programming. The course is also adjusted to students in chemistry, who will be assigned to a separate group and get chemistry oriented examples.
Learning outcome
When you have completed this course you can:
- write programs in Matlab to solve simple problems
- read, analyse and visualize your own data
- comment programs
- understand simple programs and modify them
- find errors in programs
Admission
Students who are admitted to study programmes at UiO must each semester register which courses and exams they wish to sign up for in Studentweb.
If you are not already enrolled as a student at UiO, please see our information about admission requirements and procedures.
