Central questions
- How can we model rhythmic motion and behaviour? What are the crucial factors?
- How can robots process and adapt to rhythms?
- How can rhythm be used in human-robot interaction?
The core activity of the project is the investigation of aspects of rhythm and motion through the design and construction of models and robots.
We are inspired by biology and the human brain on how to create models of rhythmical processes. We design and prototype adaptive robot systems, and explore both human-robot and robot-robot interactions in collective settings.
Methodology
We employ a multitude of methods, including artificial intelligence, machine learning, simulations, modelling, rapid prototyping, as well as iterative and creative design processes.
This analysis-by-synthesis approach leads to a new understanding of rhythmic phenomena in general, and can also lead to applications in rehabilitation and art.
