This is a collection of links to help articles about useful features in Zoom. This is for organizers of meetings and events, from small meetings with 2-3 participants, to large events with hundreds of viewers.
Start at the beginning: It is most important that you install and log in to UiO Zoom correctly.
Install the correct version of Zoom
All students and staff at UiO are licensed to use the full version of Zoom, where privacy and security are better than the free version of Zoom, and UiO has made key settings to further enhance security.

Main features of Zoom
Once you have logged in to Zoom, you will enter a main menu, where you can choose to create meetings, join meetings or plan future meetings.
Plan your meeting/event
Host / co-host / alternative host and UiO external host
- Are you going to host/chair the meeting by yourself, do you need one or more co-hosts to help, will there be UiO external speakers?
- Hosting options are set in the scheduling options, so it is a good idea to have thought this through before you create the meeting.

Meeting or webinar?
- In Zoom, there are two types of meetings: Meeting and Webinar.
- Meetings are designed to be a collaborative event where all participants can share screens, and talk together, and see who else is involved.
- Webinars are designed so that the host and any designated panelists can share video, audio and screen. The participants are anonymous to each other, and watch and listen to the host and any panelists. Webinars are often preferred for large, open events as they require a higher degree of security and have lower requirements for interactivity.

Make sure that you have the equipment you need
- Depending on your role in the meeting and whether you want to record, you need different types of equipment. Check that you have the needed equipment.
- It is also a good idea to test the equipment in advance.

Recording a meeting or an event?
Before you start recording, you must familiarize yourself thoroughly with the regulations for recording events and lectures at the UiO.
It is important, among other things, to:
- obtain consent to record in advance
- inform clearly about the purpose of the recording in advance
- know about current regulations for storing and deleting recordings
Once you are familiar with the regulations, you can go to the instructions on how to record in Zoom.
