DEVG4040 – Individual Reading List
Course description
Course content
The individual reading list i a list of self-selected curriculum of 700 pages. The curriculum must be directely linked to the master thesis. The selected litterature could for example be articles providing emprircal or theoretical perspectives for the theory chapter of the master thesis.
Learning outcome
The objective of the course is to provide the students with a thorough theoretical and empirical base related to the topic of their thesis.
Admission
Students who are admitted to study programmes at UiO must each semester register which courses and exams they wish to sign up for in Studentweb.

Prerequisites
Formal prerequisite knowledge
Students must hold a Bachelors degree in Human Geography.

Teaching
- There is no regular teaching for this course.
- The students academic supervisor must approve the reading list by 1 April.
- The reading list must not contain literature which has been a part of the curriculum for courses the student is taking or has taken previously.
- Literature used as source for exam papers submitted previously or same semester cannot be included in the reading list.
Access to teaching
A student who has completed compulsory instruction and coursework and has had these approved, is not entitled to repeat that instruction and coursework. A student who has been admitted to a course, but who has not completed compulsory instruction and coursework or had these approved, is entitled to repeat that instruction and coursework, depending on available capacity.
Examination
The exam for this course is a 2-week take home exam. The exam question is handed out at 10.00 am on the day of the exam and must be submitted at 2.00 pm 14 days later.
When submitting the exam the candidate is also required to submit a statement regarding plagiarism, also called a compulsory statement
Examination support material
No examination support material is allowed.
Language of examination
The exam is given in English, and must be answered in English.
Grading scale
Grades are awarded on a scale from A to F, where A is the best grade and F is a fail. Read more about the grading system.
