New and delayed examination in STK4050/9050 will be possible for those who failed to pass the ordinary exam or had allowed absence. This will be arranged after new year and will be an ORAL examination. The ordinary rules for signing up to such exams must be followed, see Utsatt og ny eksamen

Part II of the project is now available. There was a few type-errors on the first version. The true values for the variances were wrong, they should have been 16 and 4. The estimate of sigma?_theta was wrong, the prior distribution of one of the variances had a typo, and the mixture weights in exercise 2 did not add to one. These are corrected now.

Exerceise 21 (g) is changed in order to make it easier.

PhD-students: Could all PhD students that are going to take exam in the course please send an email to studieinfo@math.uio.no about this (include your name and the course code). This because you have to be registered in the PhD-version of the course (STK9050) instead. PhD-students taking the STK4050 version have to pay "semesteravgift".

There was a small error in exercise 19 b. This has now been corrected (eps^2 should be multiplied by 0.5)

Hint to the project exercise: Threre seem to be many that are strugling with (b). In order to find the conditional distribution, find the bivariate (Gaussian) distribution for x(t) and y(t) conditional on x(t-1). This can be obtained by writting both x(t) and (y(t) as functions of x(t-1). Then from this bivariate distribution, find the conditional (Gaussian) distribution for x(t) given y(t). This gives the conditional distribution for x(t) given x(t-1) and y(t) (since we already have conditioned on x(t-1)). If still in trouble, take contact.

Part I of the project is now available. In the first version of the pdf-file containing the exercise, it was forgotten to specify the parameter theta. This should be put to 1.5. An updated version is now made.

Exam/Project: As part of the exam, there will be a project exercise which will be divided into two parts. The first part will be given at friday september 30 and will have a deadline on tuesday october 11 at 15.00. The second part will be given at friday november 18 and will have a deadline on friday desember 2 at 15.00. The (written) exam will be at desember 6 at 14.30. The project will count one half of the grading.

The lectures will from now on be in Auditorium 4, Vilhelm Bjerknes hus.

Lectures in week 35: The lectures on wednesday august 31 is moved to thursday september 1 at 12.15-14.00. Same place as usual (B81). There will be no exercises this week.
