The exam will be conducted on Nov 29 and Nov 30.

The exam will be conducted in the following way:

1. Each student will be assigned a time and place (room) to meet. It is important that you show up at the precise time and place.
2. You will be given a set of written questions that you have 30 minutes to prepare answers to (e.g., by making notes, diagrams, keywords or similar). You may not use any kind of aid (written or otherwise).
3. After 30 minutes you will be brought to the examination room, where you will be allowed 20 minutes to present your answers to the written questions, followed by an additional 10 minutes of questioning from other parts of the examinable material.
4. Bring picture id!
5. Ifiadm will prepare a schedule for the exam (time and place for each student).

We will be using the same google doc that we have used for assignment 2 presentation slots. In the google doc, there is new table for the assignment 3 and each group has to choose one timeslot for the presentation.?

I have uploaded updated assignment description. The assignment description consists of 2 changes:

1) Page 3 - table - last row - the start value should be 7 (it was written as 6 previously. I have modified it).

2) page 5 - output - configuration 2 - changed the 'm' value from 10 to 20.

3) First letters in node names should be capitalized (eg:- Node 1, Node 2) to generate the same indexes provided in the examples.

ConsistentHashing.java:

1) I have updated the hash function (from sha3 to md5). It generated collision when sha-512 is used. I have changed the hash function. Now it is collision free.

I appologize for the inconvenience. Please let me know if there is any more bugs in the code.

The instructions for running spread server in ifi machines and how to access it from outside has been published in the updated spread tutorial document (check the 5/10/2022 - group session)

The google doc contains different timeslots and each group has to choose one timeslot for the presentation.  Add the group in the corresponding cell in the row to reserve the timeslot. 

If none of the timeslots work for a group, then let me know through mail. ?

Hello Everyone,

There is a change in the server-side caching strategy.  The server cache was supposed to store the data records of different cities. But instead, the change is that the server cache also should follow the same principle as the client cache. The server cache can store the results of the queries. It has been pointed out that the identifying whether the server cache contains the complete information needed to solve query needs some additional data to be stored which would introduce additional complexity. The assignment description has been modified and the updated document is uploaded.
