IN3250 – Project Assignment in Informatics: Interaction Design

Course content

In this course, the student will explore and report on a topic in interaction design in cooperation with a supervisor. The project will involve the design and development of high-resolution design artifacts in consultation with end users where data collection, development and evaluation are included as part of the experiment. The course is suitable for students who want to work with either established business cases or ongoing research projects as a starting point for a professional specialization in interaction design. The course therefore allows for exploration in both professional and academic directions. The project is carried out in the supervisor's research group, which will also provide the necessary resources and access.

Learning outcome

After taking this course you will:

  • have a very good understanding of a selected topic in interaction design
  • have some knowledge of how design experiments are performed in interaction design
  • have some knowledge of how data collection, development and evaluation are carried out in research in interaction design
  • be able to carry out a small project in consultation with end users where data collection, development and evaluation are included as part of the experiment
  • be able to write a simple report that describes and discusses the project and its results

Admission to the course

Students who are admitted to study programmes at UiO must each semester register which courses and exams they wish to sign up for?in Studentweb.

This course is only available for students belonging to the programme?Informatikk: design, bruk og interaksjon.

Max number of students: 10

Teaching

The course is organized with three joint sessions of two hours for everyone who takes the course:

  • Introduction of project work, supervisors, scope and expectations.
  • Joint mid-term presentation and assessment of each other's project work.
