IN1080 – Mechatronics

Course content
Basic analogue electronics, sensors and sensor interfaces, actuators. Programming of mechatronic systems.
Learning outcome
After finishing IN1080, you'll:
- ?understand the behavior of analog circuits. Relevant concepts are: current, voltage, resistance, power, impedance, direct current, alternating current, RCL, MOS, FET, OPAmp
- be able to use classical analytical methods based on the theorems of Kirchoff, Thevenin, and Norton
- understand and apply sensors, signal conditioning and conversion, as well as some inter component buses
- be able to build and program simple mechatronic systems with microcontrollers, actuators and sensors
- understand basic control theory and how PID controllers work
Admission to the course
This course has 60 slots and bachelor students in Informatikk: robotikk og intelligente systemer will be prioritized.
Special admission requirements
In addition to fulfilling the?Higher Education Entrance Qualification, applicants have to meet the following special admission requirements:
- Mathematics R1 or Mathematics (S1+S2)
The special admission requirements may also be covered by equivalent studies from Norwegian upper secondary school or by other equivalent studies. Read more about?special admission requirements?(in Norwegian).
Recommended previous knowledge
The course is based?on knowledge corresponding to Fysikk-1 and -2 from norwegian upper secondary school (videreg?ende skole), as well as the novice courses in informatics: IN1000/INF1000/INF1001/IN1900/IN-KJM1900/INF1100, IN1020.

Teaching
2 hours of lectures and 2 hours of group?teachings each week.
Implementation of laboratory exercises is required, these?may take place as project work.?Read more about requirements for submission of assignments, group work and legal cooperation under guidelines.
Examination
4 hours written digital exam. Having the mandatory assignments approved are required before you?re allowed to take the exam.
It will also be counted as one of?your three?attempts to sit the exam for this course, if you sit the exam for one of the following courses:?INF1411 - Electronic systems (continued).
