Course description
Schedule, syllabus and examination date
Course content
This course provides an advanced introduction to radiation transport applied to stellar atmospheres and numerical stellar atmosphere models, non-LTE and numerical methods in radiation transport.
Learning outcome
After completing this course:
- you will?have knowledge of?spectral line formation without using the approximation of Local Thermodynamic Equilibrium (non-LTE).
- you will have?knowledge of?basic numerical methods in non-LTE radiative transfer.
- you will understand basic concepts in stellar atmosphere modeling.
- you will be able to apply these methods to solve a stellar atmosphere modeling problem in the form of a term project.
- you can present the results of the term project in a written report in the style of a research paper.
