Summary
This talk presents briefly the recently completed PhD thesis "Objects and Structures: Aesthetics and experiments for sound objects and spatial audio" with a focus on the core ideas presented in the thesis and its five case studies. Future directions are mapped out through discursive and practice-based perspectives with a focus on ambisonics and wave field synthesis. The primary focus is how place and the landscape can be represented through spatial audio.

Ulf A. S. Holbrook is a researcher, composer, programmer and artist working with sound in a variety of mediums. His research and artistic practice involves an interest in representations of space and place through sound, spatial audio and software.
