As a French engineering student, I had to do a four-month internship at a foreign company or university. I discovered RITMO by chance and immediately knew I wanted to intern there. I arrived in May 2023 to work under the supervision of Alexander Szorkovsky on the COROBOREES project.
My work at RITMO
The COROBOREES project involves an autonomous synchronizing hexapod robot, that was working in simulation when I arrived. I contributed to building the real version of this robot, and I implemented the sensory inputs. Three types of sensors have been used:
- an IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) that allows stability,
- a microphone
- six FSR (Force Sensitive Resistor) that measure the force applied on the robot’s feet
With Timothé Rivier, an intern during the same period, we presented a live demo of the project and the robot during the Entrainment Workshop. This great event was an opportunity for us, and we had a wonderful time presenting our work. Working on this robot was very interesting, and what I learned during this internship will help me a lot in my future life as an engineer.
I’m very grateful to the RITMO team for their warm welcome and hope I’ll have other opportunities to return to Oslo.
