Application process for scholarship applicants
When to apply for Summer 2026
- The application portal for scholarship applicants is now open.
- The application period for scholarship applicants is January 2 - February 1.
1. Academic requirements
Admission requirements are different for Master's and Bachelor's courses.
2. Choose courses
- You can apply for up to two Master's courses. It is not possible to add courses after the application deadline. If you are offered admission to your first priority, you will not be offered admission to your second priority.
- It is not possible to get a general ISS scholarship for taking a Bachelor's course or a Norwegian language course (NORA-course on level 1,2 or 3).
3. Check if you qualify for a scholarship
4. Choose accommodation
- When you apply you must choose if you want ISS student housing or if you want to rent your own housing.
- The ISS student housing has limited space and we recommend applicants who wish to stay at ISS housing to apply early.
- Admission to the ISS does not automatically grant students the right to ISS accommodation.
5. Gather documents
- Gather all the required documents, and upload them in the application portal, S?knadsweb, within the application period.
- Upload all documents to the portal unless specifically instructed to send them directly from the issuing institution.
- You can log in to the?portal multiple times to upload documents, before the given deadline.

6. Apply online
The application portal?is open
Register your application in the University of Oslo's online application system S?knadsweb.?
- Enter your full legal?name, including middle?name(s),?exactly as it is written in your passport.
- Use one email address to avoid creating multiple user IDs/applications.
- Make sure that you apply for the correct type: Scholarship, on-campus or off-campus.
- You can apply?as a?self-financed applicant or as a?scholarship applicant. If you apply for both your scholarship application will be rejected.
- US and Canadian applicants: please apply as "Self-financed", even if you apply for a scholarship. Read more about scholarships for applicants from USA and Canada.
- There is no "Submit" button in the portal
- You can log in multiple times to complete your application and upload documents, by the February 1 deadline.

Please note! Your application will be considered invalid if you have not submitted all supporting documents by the deadline. Invalid applications will not be processed.
7. Get your application result
Scholarship results will be announced individually to each student.
- Scholarship applications are evaluated by a scholarship committee.
- You will receive an email with the result of your application when your application has been processed.
- "Scholarship" means you have applied for either just a scholarship or both scholarship and travel grant.
