Semester abroad

Acquire specialized knowledge in your field of study, a professional network, and increased cultural competence.

When should I go?

It is anticipated that you go abroad during the third semester, preferably to the Middle East region.

You have three options to go abroad:

  • Study Abroad: If you wish to study at a university in the Middle East or North Africa, you can take elective courses at the master's level that are relevant to your thesis.

  • Internship: You can undertake an internship by applying to an organization, business, or foreign affairs office in the Middle East as part of the course AMS4900 – International Project Term in Asia and the Middle East.

  • Fieldwork: You can choose to complete fieldwork for your master's thesis by opting for the course MES4550 – Fieldwork and Data Collection: Gathering and Communicating Research Results. By choosing this alternative, you will combine data collection with training on how to communicate research results to a broader audience. You can also complete your fieldwork during your studies abroad or your internship.
