Termination of access to certain services through UiO account in Google

What’s happening?

The University of Oslo (UiO) has discovered that some users have connected their UiO Google accounts to third-party applications (external apps and services) that have not been assessed or approved by UiO for such integration.

To protect UiO’s data and your personal information, all access for unauthorized third-party apps to UiO Google accounts will be terminated on November 1, 2025.

What does this mean for you?

This change only affects users who have received an email notification regarding the matter. If you have not received the email, no action is required.

Applications or services previously connected to your UiO Google account may stop functioning after this date.

Your standard Google services available through your UiO account (Google Drive, NotebookLM, etc.) will continue to function as normal.

Please follow the instructions below.

What do you need to do?

If you have received an email listing the third-party apps connected to your UiO Google account, please follow the instructions on this page: Instructions on what you need to do.

What is UiO doing?

All unauthorized access for third-party apps to UiO Google accounts will be terminated on November 1 2025.

UiO has identified which users and services are affected, and those users have been notified by email. UiO will disable the possibility to log in to services using the incorrect login or authentication methods. Users are advised to retrieve any documents or data stored in such services and, if necessary, update their login information.

The incident has been reported to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet).
