When the network is “forgotten”, your next attempt to connect will be as if trying to connect for the first time. Any leftover settings or remains of earlier connection attempts will have been deleted.
Choose your device from the list below to get a simple walk-through of how to forget the wireless network.
iPhone/iPad
- Open Settings.
- Scroll down, find the option named General and tap it.
- From inside General, scroll down to find the VPN & Device Management option.
- Under Configuration Profile(s) we find the network profile(s) installed on our iPhone/iPad.
I see the eduroam profile, as shown in the picture
- Choose the eduroam profile, and then choose Remove Profile on the next screen.
- If you have a screen lock on your iPhone/iPad, you will be prompted to input that as well.
- Confirm that you want to remove the profile by choosing Remove.
The wireless network profile is now properly removed, and we can move on to forget the wireless network.
Beware that iPhones/iPads may only forget wireless networks that are available nearby or that they are currently connected to.
- Open Settings.
- Choose Wi-Fi.
- Choose the information icon (i) next to the name of the wireless network.
- Choose the top option Forget This Network.
- Confirm that you want to forget the wireless network by choosing Forget.
The wireless network is now forgotten.
I do not see the eduroam profile, as shown in the picture
This means the eduroam profile is not installed on you iPhone/iPad, and we can proceed to forget the wireless network.
Beware that iPhones/iPads may only forget wireless networks that are available nearby or that they are currently connected to.
- Open Settings.
- Choose Wi-Fi.
- Choose the information icon (i) next to the name of the wireless network.
- Choose the top option Forget This Network.
- Confirm that you want to forget the wireless network by choosing Forget.
The wireless network is now forgotten.
Android
- Open Settings.
- Choose the top option Network & internet .
- Choose Internet.
- Given you have Wi-Fi turned on, a list of wireless networks nearby will show up, together with the one you are already connected to (if you are connected to any).

Can you see the wireless network you want to forget?
Yes
Choose that wireless network and then choose Forget.
The wireless network is now forgotten.
No
- Scroll down and choose the Saved networks option.
- A list of wireless networks saved on your phone is showing. If you can not see the wireless network you want to forget at first glance, scroll until you find it. Then, choose the network you want to forget.
- Choose Forget to forget the wireless network.
The wireless network is now forgotten.
Windows
Choose the wireless network icon in the bottom right corner.-
Are you currently connected to the wireless network you want to forget?
Yes
Right-click in the box of the wireless network you are connected to.- Choose "Forget".
The wireless network is now forgotten.
No
- Choose Network and Internet settings.
- Choose Wi-Fi in the left column.
- Choose "Manage known networks".
- Find the name of the wireless network you want to forget from the list and click it.
- Choose "Forget".
The wireless network is now forgotten.
Mac
- Click the Apple icon
in the top left corner, and open System Preferences. - Choose Profiles in the bottom right corner.
I can see the "Profiles" icon
- Find the profile you wish to remove, click it and make sure it's marked in blue.
- Finally, choose the minus sign - at the bottom of the left column to remove the profile.
The profile is now removed, and we can move on to forget the wireless network.
- Open System Preferences.
- Choose Network.
- Choose Advanced...
- In here we find a list of all the wireless networks our Macbook remembers. Find the name of the wireless network you want to forget, and then do the following.
- Click the wireless network which is to be forgotten. Make sure the background goes blue.
- Click the - symbol to the left below the list.
- Confirm the changes by clicking OK in the bottom right corner.
The wireless network is now forgotten.
I can not see the "Profiles" icon
This means you have no profiles installed on you mac, and we can move on to forget the wireless network.
- Choose Network.
- Choose Advanced...
- In here we find a list of all the wireless networks our Macbook remembers. Find the name of the wireless network you want to forget, and then do the following.
- Click the wireless network which is to be forgotten. Make sure the background goes blue.
- Click the - symbol to the left underneath the list.
- Confirm the changes by clicking OK in the bottom right corner.
The wireless network is now forgotten.
Linux
There are multiple ways to forget a wireless network on machines running a version of Linux, and visually it might look quite different from here. However, the steps to forget a wireless network should be rather similar across different distros (the images here are taken in Pop!_OS 21.10).
- Open Settings and choose Wi-Fi.
- Are you currently connected to the wireless network you want to forget?
Yes
- Click on the gear icon next to the wireless network name.
- Choose Forget Connection.
The wireless network is forgotten.
No

Click on the three dots in the top right corner.

Choose Known Wi-Fi Networks.

Find the name of the wireless network you want to forget in the list, and click in the blank box next to the wireless network name.

Choose Forget.
The wireless network is now forgotten.
