Important: Remote Desktop uses two-factor authentication, but you won't get a reminder on the screen when you log in. When you log in to Remote Desktop, you must check the phone (or other authentication method) to confirm the login in Authenticator (or other selected method).
Installation
- Microsoft Remote Desktop can be downloaded from Google Play.
- For phones and tablets in operation, Microsoft Remote Desktop is installed from Intelligent Hub on the device.
How to connect to a Windows machine
Click the plus button. The Create Connection window appears:
Call the connection Kontormaskin or the actual name of your computer in the field Connection name. Click Next to get to the next picture. Enter the name of your office computer in the form computername.clients.uio.no in the PC-name field, and click Done. You can also connect to Windows servers, such as win.uio.no.
Under Creditials, enter your username is written in the form uio\username and your password.
Add gateway
You must also add a gateway, for security reasons. Check the box ??Show additional options and click Add gateway.
Then enter rds-portal.uio.no as the address and press Add.
Finish by pressing Save.
Using Remote Desktop Connection
Double click the computer's entry in Microsoft Remote Desktop to connect to the computer.
The connection requires two-factor authentication and will therefore hang on Initiating remote connection, until you have confirmed the login with Microsoft Authenticator on your mobile phone.
