Gmail Setup for Email and Calendar on Android

If you are unsure what your email address is (long and/or short) you can log into brukerinfo to check.

Important:

The guidelines below only apply if your email account is NOT in MS365. All accounts at UiO will be migrated there in the fall of 2024. If you are unsure whether your email is in MS365, you can check it as follows:

Go to →outlook.office.com. If you see a login window and can log in, you have been migrated. If you are asked to click on a link to be redirected, you have not been migrated.

Gmail setup

If you do not have Gmail installed on your device you can find the application on the Google Play Store.

  1. Start Gmail on your phone and continue through the app until you need to choose an email service. Choose Exchange and Office 365.

  2. Type in your primary/full email address and then click on Set up manually.

  3. With manual settings you need to make sure the fields are correct:
    • Email should be written as first_name.last_name@unit.uio.no
      or username@uio.no if your full email does not work.
    • Password should be your UiO password.
    • Domain\Username should be uio\username.
    • Server should be set to mail.uio.no.
    • Leave the rest as is.
  4. Click on Next to complete the setup.

Gmail is now set up on your device.
