Dear all employees,

It has now been just over four months since my first day at Sogn Arena. It has been a very pleasant meeting with the staff, in the faculty administration, at the departments and units. I want to thank you for the way you have welcomed me.

A brief introduction to Hanna

So, who is Hanna? I have a Master's degree in Education from UiO with some support subjects from UiB. I have extensive experience from UiO and have worked here for 29 years. I have worked at the departmental, faculty, and central levels, and I have held several leadership positions at various units.

Most recently, I was employed as Director of Studies at the central Study Administration at the University. I have been involved in several national collaboration arenas and have led several steering groups for administrative projects, both at UiO and nationally.

MED impresses

It has been a busy autumn and I have spent time getting to know the faculty's activities and employees. I am impressed by all the knowledgeable and positive staff I have met over these months.

A holistic administration

I am committed to ensuring that UiO has a holistic administration, and to achieve this, collaboration between subject areas and between different levels in the organisation is needed. It is when we work together that we achieve the necessary development of the administrative areas.

We need to have high-quality and efficient services that support our societal mission, but we also need a good working day for all employees. Developing better and more efficient digital solutions is part of this.

Tighter financial frameworks

We are in a period with tighter financial frameworks at most universities in Norway, and also at UiO and the Faculty of Medicine. We must jointly find good solutions on how we use our resources.

New developments at UiO

There is a lot of good work being done in the administration at UiO to further develop the University's systems and routines and to improve us. In 2025, UiO will start a project to develop a framework for process improvement. I will provide more information about this once the project is underway.

Now in December, we are getting a new email system. Everyone who has updated their mobile number in the DF? portal will be notified when this starts with their email. An updated mobile number is also important for any emergency situations. Read the updated information about the new email system at MED on our internal pages.

Just after Christmas, UiO will also get a new case management system. The current service for case management and document management, ePhorte, is no longer maintained by the supplier. It will therefore be replaced with Elements Cloud. UiO plans to start using the new service in January 2025. Case managers and leaders have been trained or will be trained. Read all about the Elements project here (link in Norwegian). More information about this will come after Christmas.

This autumn, UiO has implemented a new digital HSE course (link in Norwegian, but with possibility to register for the course in English). The course is for leaders and members of LAMU and AMU. At the end of the course, one must pass a small test. It is important that everyone in the mentioned roles takes the course as soon as possible, even if you took such a course a long time ago.

A full day off as a Christmas gift from UiO

Some of our new employees may not know that they get a day off as a Christmas gift from UiO? There are also still many who wonder about practical things around registering holiday, flexitime and working hours. Previously, we did not need to register that we got time off on, for example, Christmas Eve. Read UiO's update about the Christmas gift day and more here.

Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas.

Best wishes,
Hanna
