Exercise options
The objective of this offer is to promote physical activity and foster fellowship among colleagues.
You may:
- join group activities organized by UiO
- participate in activities organized by the University of Oslo's company sports team
- make use of SiO Athletica's offer to UiO employees
- organize your own individual exercise programme
Time may be split up
In total, 1.5 hours per weeks may be used for exercising during working hours. If you wish you may split up the quota into two (or more) training sessions. Talk to your personnel manager and agree on an arrangement.
For example, if you would like to go for walks you may split the weekly quota in two and take a 45 minute walk twice a week.
No time account
No time account is attached to this arrangement. If you are not able to make use of the exercise quota one week, you are not entitled to double the quota the following week.
Use of SiO's facilities
Even if you are not a member of SiO you may, as a staff member at UiO, participate in the activities jointly organised by UiO and SiO. You are given access to the facilities by showing your employee card.
No shorter work days
This offer does not introduce shorter work days. To assess whether the desired activity is within the boundaries of the scheme ask yourself these questions:
- Does it imply physical activity?
- Can it be carried out within 1.5 working hours?
For example, if you walk your dog every morning before leaving for work, you cannot count this towards your weekly exercise quota.
Insurance
The University of Oslo understands the legal practice thus that physical activity during working hours is considered sufficiently close to and affiliated with ordinary work for an accident occuring during such activity to be covered by the occupational injury insurance.
