Pilates - Athletica Blindern

Course description

Pilates is a system of exercise that was developed by the German Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century. In recent years, the method has become increasingly popular, not least because it helps prevent strain injuries while toning and strengthening the abdominals.?By concentrating on breathing, you can engage the core muscles more easily and get a good work out for your abdominals and back.

The method may be equally useful for those who have a sedentary job as for those whose work involves heavy lifting or having to stand for long periods of time.

In this introductory course you will learn the most important mat exercises (mats will be provided). Some exercises will be performed standing.

Please bring your usual training gear or wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothes. No shoes. Instead you should wear socks that prevent you from slipping. We also recommend that you bring a small towel for use on the mat.
