The government no longer requires a social distancing of 1 metre in connection with teaching, and so students at the University of Oslo can look forward to normal lectures and seminars again.
Thursday 13 January, the government announced an easing of Covid-19 measures. This means it will be possible to offer more physical education to the students.
Monday 13 December, the government introduced new Covid-19 measures. – I am happy that the university can remain open. The measures have little consequence for UiO, as we already largely adhere to what is in the new regulations and recommendations from the government, says Rector Svein St?len.
Social distancing of 1 metre is back, there are further restrictions on events, but our reading rooms have good capacity, and exams will be held as planned until Christmas.
Mandatory face masks when it is not possible to uphold social distancing, more use of home office where possible, and restrictions on events are among the new measures.
Students and staff who are ill are asked to stay at home and get tested if showing symptoms. UiO adapts its activities to the infection situation and follows national and local recommendations.
Social distancing is done for. Reading rooms and pubs can be filled up. Colleagues will again meet at work. As of 4 pm Saturday 25 September, the vast majority of national infection control measures will be removed.
11 000 new students are welcome to The University of Oslo on Monday. Students will be exempt from social distancing requirements during teaching. Readingrooms and activities during study start will maintain social distancing of one meter.

Increased capacity in reading rooms, the possibility of some physical teaching, a reopening of museums and student cellars are the results of an easing of corona restrictions from 26 May.
A student at the Department of Political Science has been diagnosed with Covid-19. The person in question was in Eilert Sundt's house in the large reading room on the second floor of the A-block on Thursday 22 April.
Strict corona measures will remain in place in Oslo Municipality, even though the government is easing the national measures. Governing Mayor Raymond Johansen made that clear 14th of April 2021.
The government has also included scientists in the application-based arrangement for entry into the country.
The library in Georg Sverdrup's house will reopen for students and staff from Monday 12 April.
The government is introducing two-meter social distancing or the use of facemasks where distancing is not possible. The reading rooms at UiO will be adapted to this from 25 March.
An employee and a student have been confirmed infected with Covid-19 this week.
The University of Oslo is reopening reading rooms. At the same time, the Covid-19 rapid testing of symptom-free students and staff on campus is expanded. The recommendation is to get tested twice a week in order to keep the corona infection situation under control.
The university's buildings will be closed to students from Tuesday 16 March at 12:00. Teaching will be digital.

The Faculty of Medicine reports that a student has been confirmed infected with Covid-19. Close contacts have been notified and quarantined.
Tuesday 2 March 10.00 a.m, SiO Health will start large-scale Covid-19 testing of students and staff at the University of Oslo. Everyone on the Blindern campus during the next three weeks is encouraged to take a rapid Covid-19 test once a week.
The faculties can plan for physical teaching for up to 20 people, and student pubs and basements for reopening, as of Monday 1 March.
