Physical teaching with no social distancing

The government no longer requires a social distancing of 1 metre in connection with teaching, and so students at the University of Oslo can look forward to normal lectures and seminars again.

– We have been waiting for this for such a long time, and I am incredibly happy for our students! They have been hit hard by the pandemic. We are looking forward immensely to filling the auditoriums and seminary rooms again. Students – we want you back! says Rector Svein St?len.

Back to normal

The faculties are now working to put everything in place in order to fill the auditoriums. The goal is for students to have a normal study life again, with physical teaching and attendance on campus. Requirements for infection control on campus are met.

– We are moving towards a phase of the pandemic where we can expect high levels of sick leave. As such, situations may occur where we have to resort to hybrid or digital solutions. However, these will be ad-hoc solutions, and we strive for as much physical teaching as possible, St?len emphasises.

Staff returning to the office

The requirement to work from home is no longer in effect, which means that UiO is quickly moving towards a more normal situation where the university?s premises are the main workplace.

However, it is important to ensure that not too many employees fall ill at the same time, and to facilitate any needs related to health conditions and special circumstances. The immediate line manager will assess who is working from home based on these considerations.
