The recommended switch is Cisco Catalyst 1000-8FP-2G-L.
Port 1 is used for the client-network while port 10 is connected to the wall (uplink). Ensure that there are no mini-switches between the wall and this new switch. Ports 2-8 can be used for AV equipment in the room.
When you have plugged the new switch into the wall, fill out this Nettskjema https://nettskjema.no/a/new-av-switch.html (if you are a contractor ask your contact at UiO) with the following information:
- The building code.
- The room name or code.
- The name of the switch the new switch is connected to. Provide the port-number, too, if you can.
- VLAN-number of the client-network for port 1 on the switch.
If a short downtime is required, provide nett-drift with the port the av-switch will be connected to. With that information, nett-drift can pre-provision the switch. That way, when it is hooked up, it will be automatically configured in about five minutes. Even shorter downtime can be managed by setting up the switch before it is hooked up in the new room.
