Abstract

Traditional approaches to studying social reasoning and social cognition focus on self-reports or responses to hypothetical scenarios. Using eyetracking allows us to unobtrusively observe social reasoning as it unfolds in real interactions. I discuss the insights that "visual world" eyetracking has brought to theories of language use and perspective taking. Finally, I will discuss further potential applications of eyetracking to the study of interaction.
