Effects of chemicals of emerging concern (CECs) on fish

Background

There is increasing focus on how potentially toxic chemicals affect the health of marine organisms and methods are being developed to improve our understanding and ability to monitor such effects. One or more master projects can be offered on developing methods to monitor effects of CECs. The projects will be linked to an EU Horizon project and will involve collaboration with NIVA in Oslo, Institute of Marine Research in Bergen and partners in the Contrast project (https://www.contrastproject.eu/).

Methods

The master projects will include exposure studies and/or field sampling, tissue retrieval and laboratory analyses of markers for health effects. There will be a focus on analyses of the blood proteome of in the fish, but other methods to quantify effects recommended in European monitoring will also be addressed.

Contact

The master project(s) will be supervised by Ketil Hylland (ketilhy@uio.no) and external researchers – get in touch if you are interested.
