The course provides an understanding of qualitative epistemologies, theories, and methodologies within which they may be utilized.?

make informed decisions about which types of research questions are best answered using qualitative methods.?

discuss how qualitative data can contribute to the understanding of the global sustainable development goals
Admission to the course
This course is open for international exchange students at Bachelor's level. Formal prerequisite: Completed first and second year of a bachelor's degree.
Recommended previous knowledge
Recommended prior knowledge: SPED1200 Spesialpedagogiske forskningsmetoder og forskningsbasert praksis or equivalent.?
Basic knowledge of qualitative research is recommended, including qualitative research design and epistemology, basic knowledge of qualitative methods (e.g., observation, interview, focus group).??
Teaching
The teaching is comprised of hybrid teaching, flipped classroom and compulsory seminars.

The compulsory component must be completed and approved before you are allowed to take the exam.
Examination
1. Oral group exam: poster presentation and discussion based on given research question.?
2. Individual report after group presentation (one page reflection about the PBL poster presentation).

You may write your examination paper in Norwegian, Swedish, Danish or English.
Grading scale

Resit an examination
Re-sit exam:
Students who do not pass an exam may have a second attempt as soon as it is possible to arrange. This is called a re-sit examination. The re-sit examination is held within 3 months of the original examination.
Students who have passed their exam, but who wish to improve their grade may not participate in a re-sit examination. You may take an exam to improve your grades the next time the course has an ordinary exam, as long as you have not already used all three attempts.
The Department of Special Needs Education will provide information and guidelines about the re-sit examination.
