Learning outcome

The course reviews recent developments in international technology spillovers and the transmission of international shocks. We will start by reviewing the evidence on international technology spillovers, including recent advancement on productivity spillovers through innovation networks. We will then turn to the international transmission of financial and monetary policy shocks and we will conclude by exploring the role of financial dependence in the transmission of shocks. ?

The course will review original empirical strategies, most common and novel datasets, will develop analytical and critical thinking to identify research questions and propose innovative solutions to challenges related to the international transmission of shocks.?

This course is offered to PhD candidates at the Oslo PhD Initiative in Economics at UiO and BI. Other candidates admitted to a PhD program may apply.
