In response to an overwhelming number of requests, there will be an extra lecture on Monday 2 October, at the usual time in the usual place. That should give us time to take a better look at convex sets and separation theorems, and also Section 13.4 on the Maximum theorem (pp. 199-202 in the Norwegian book). At today's lecture I handed out some problems for you to look at during the coming two weeks (see Monday 9/10 under Extra problems). Special offer: If you want to, you are invited to hand in solutions of those problems. I will mark them and return them with corrections, if any. Arne Str?m

For Monday 25/9 I suggest that you look at problems 13.1.2, 13.1.6, 13.2.4, 13.3.2, and 13.3.4 in FMEA. (If you don't have that book, you can find the problems under Extra problems for Monday 25/9.) Note that you will need to read about continuous functions before tackling the problems from Section 13.3. Arne Str?m

I have given a few problems that you should look at before Monday. Look under the heading Extra problems on this page. (There will be only 6 seminars in this course, and we want to save most of them for the more difficult parts later in the semester, so there won't be any seminars for a few weeks now.) Arne Str?m
