The answer to problem 2 - seminar 6 is now available on Fronter.
Under Lecture Notes you find the slides to be used by Diderik Lund on the last lecture on Wednesday (November 16).
The lecture note on electricity is revised: pages 7 and 8 are new, all the rest is the same as before.
A corrected version of the answer to Problem 1 at seminar #5 (Fishery) has replaced the old one.
The problem set for seminar #6 - November 14 - is available under "Seminar problems".
The correction from yesterday is withdrawn because it was a mistake there as well. The correct answer is that even if the stock under open access is below the long-run optimal level, we cannot say how the number of vessels and catch per vessel will be affected. Sorry for the confusion!
The problem set to seminar 6, Monday 14, will be available after the lecture tomorrow.
You should read the small piece of paper, handed out on Michael's lecture yesterday, for the lecture tomorrow.
Also, Michael will prepare a note related to what was taken up in the discussion yesterday.
The answers to Problem Set 5 is now available.
You will find them on Fronter (the room for all).
Lecture note 9 has been updated. The new version can be found under "Lecture Notes".
You find a lecture note (Lecture Note 3) under "Lecture Notes" on some issues related to "Resource Extraction under Uncertainty", which is summing up the two topics we have considered in class. In addition there is a section on how we can rank distributions according to riskiness. This section might help you to understand the results used in Hoel (1978).
The Problem Set for Seminar #5, is now available under "Seminar Problems"
Lecture notes for lecture 9, 10 and 11 are now available, as well as a note on the climate impact of forestry (one Norwegian and one English version). It is recommended to read these before the lectures.
The answers to Problem Set 3 is now available.
You will find them on Fronter (the room for all).
On page 10 in Lecture Note 2 there is (unfortunately) a wrong sign in the formula for the marginal revenue. In the first parenthesis there shall be a +sign, whereas the minus sign in the last one is correct. The correct version has replaced the old one.
You find a lecture note (Lecture Note 2) under "Lecture Notes" on some issues related to "Resource Extraction and Imperfect Competition", by JV. In a few days you will have another one on "Resource Extraction under Uncertainty", by JV.
The Problem Set for Seminar #4, is now available under "Seminar Problems".
The Problem Set for Seminar #3, is now available under "Seminar Problems".
Michael Hoel will give his last lecture (on wind, solar and hydropower) on Monday November 7, 1615-1800 (Aud 4), and J.Vislie will give his last lecture on November 9, 0815-1000 (Aud 5), on Sustainability.
(The rest goes as planned.)
You will find answers to the problem set 2 on Fronter (the room for all).
You have all access to this room.
It has been announced that the students at ECON 4925 Resource Economics should write a mandatory term paper this semester. That is NOT correct. There are no compulsory assignments.
The Problem set for the second seminar on Monday, September 12, is now available. The Set is placed under heading "Seminar Problems". You are all recommended to solve these problems.
I have made a new "Heading" called Lecture Notes. Here I will download some small notes that hopefully will clarify things.
The first one, Lecture Note 1: Optimal Resource Extraction (by JV)
is a brief overview of the (more confusing) parts in the lecture yesterday.
A preliminary time schedule for the lectures is now provided under "Schedule".
I will prepare a hand-out, containing the control-theoretic part presented today, however, in some confusion, in some days.
