I have corrected lecture note 3, which had a mistake in the tax part. See you tomorrow at the seminar (note that the room has changed to HH301). Florian

I have updated the lecture note on Sustainability. Also, I provide a link to a book chapter from Geir Asheim as an additional material on Hartwick's rule.

Seminar exercise is on the web. I have updated the lecture overview with a (hopefully) clarifying comment on the mandatory readings. Only those articles listed in the current version of this overview document are mandatory, the articles that are additionally named lecture notes (but not in the overview) are additional reading (although I guess that some of these are very helpful for your understanding of the lectures).

I have collected my notes for the next three lectures on sustainability in one document which will consecutively be updated. The first part is now online.

A note for the seventh lecture on October 8th has been posted as well as the problem set for the third seminar on October 19th. Have a nice h?stferie!

A note on the problem set: s = 0 is to be interpreted that the backstop is always there, and s to infinity is to be interpreted that the backstop is never there. The text was confusing (I'm sorry) I did not intend to say that s is the time at which the existence of the backstop becomes known. It is known that at time s (which may be right now, or never) the backstop arrives.

If you are further interested in this problem, I put a paper by Michael Hoel (1978) under the additional materials (but it is not necessary to read this paper for solving the problem, it might not even be helpful as it discusses more general cases).
