Excursion on April 27. The Minstry of Finance is located at Akersgata 40. Akersgata is a side street to Karl Johans gate in the very centre of Oslo. The nearest T-bane-stop is Stortinget. IMPORTANT : Please, remember to bring an ID. Those who can, should be there no later than 12:15 as getting in takes some time. Those who have lecture until 12 should be off immediately after the lecture. People from the Ministry will give talks on resource rent taxation, environmental taxes and wealth taxes.

Those otherwise not able to register, could send an email to vidar.christiansen@econ.uio.no Registration in advance is required. Those going to the Ministry, should remember to bring an ID.

Please, note that the reference to the appendix in Brewer et al. is to the appendix on pp 164-168. It refers to some things in the main text, which, accordingly, you also have to read. The easiest way to access it may be to google Mirrlees Review or go to ifs.org.uk Then the Mirrlees Review will appear and you can click Dimension of Tax Design and find the paper by Brewer et al.

I advise you to read sections 1-3 of the Edwards/Keen/Tuomala- article and 15.1-15.6.1 of the textbook before the lecture on January 26. For understanding the model in the article it may be helpful to have a look at the presentation of basically the same model in Stiglitz (1982): Self-selection and Pareto efficient taxation, Journal of Public Economics 17, 213-240.
