I recommend everyone to read the two last seminar essays; they are in their different ways very good, as is the essay pro libertarianism 2 May. Hilde

On Thursday 28 I shall discuss problems in the term assignment. If time, I shall then start lecture 10, which will continue on 5 May. The last lecture on 12 May will be a review lecture. Hilde

A comment on the essay for 26 April. I asked for an essay on libertarianism, not liberalism. Liberalism is a very broad term which covers e.g. Rawls, Dworkin, Sen and to some extent utilitarianism. Hilde

I have posted exercises for 3 and 9 May. The first question is taken from postponed exam Autumn 2010.

I recommend your reading the seminar essays for week 15. They are very different, but both are thoughtful and interesting. Hilde

Term assignment: I shall correct them during the Easter holiday. Those of you that delivered electronically will have them in return electronically as and when I have read and commented. The assignments on paper will be available in the ekspedisjonskontoret, 12 floor, on Tuesday the 26 in the afternoon. Hilde

The last seminars will be on Tuesday 10 May and Monday 16 May. For them I have prepared a long list of review questions. For the seminars Tuesday 3 May and Monday 9 May I have no plans, and invite suggestions as to the subjects you would like to discuss. The subjects of the two seminars do not have to be the same. Hilde

The first seminars after Easter will be on Tuesday 26 April and Monday 2 May. For these seminars, I should like to organise a debate for and against libertarianism. I need two volunteers to write essays for each seminar: one for, one against. What about it? Hilde

For the record: I expect participants in seminars to bring with them the text of the exercise essay. Hilde

Det som p? engelsk kalles libertarianism har ingen entydig oversettelse til norsk. Selv har jeg skjelnet mllom liberal og liberalistisk, men den siste har ingen passende -isme. Det er nettopp kommet en bok fra forlaget Res Publica som bruker betegnelsen ny-liberale; ganske t?pelig, synes jeg. Hva er det som er nytt?? Det enkleste er kanskje ? bruke anglisismen libertarianisme.

I expect to be able to lecture tomorrow, Thursday, as usual. But I shall switch the subject, and lecture on libertarianism which was scheduled for lecture 9. Hilde

About the assignment. Please mail me if you have questions. We can also arrange an appointment.

Writing the paper is voluntary, and it will not count in your final marks. It is meant as an exercise, a training i describing theories in your own words.

Plans for the seminars will be posted next week.
