NB! A revised reading list for Rice has been put on the net.

Note that a printing mistake in Problem 1a (in f(x,y)) of the week 47 exercises has now been corrected.

Note Two small changes have been added to "Lecture notes to Rice chapter 8": (1) a correction to the lower right cell of table 1 (page 4), and (2) an extra footnote on page 15.

Note 1. No teaching this week (43).2. An assumption fell out in exercise 2b for this week: Assume that the errors e(i) and v(i) are uncorrelated.

The first version of no-seminar exercises for week 41 contained some printing errors. They are now corrected.

Note that the exercises for the seminars this week (38) are supplementary exercises 1-4, as earlier announced in the revised lecture/seminar plan. From now on exercises for every week will be announced on the net the previous week. Exercises for next (no-seminar week 39) will be announced on Thursday.

Extra exercises will be given in those weeks with no seminar. The exercises will be announced on Thursday the previous week , and solutions will be put on the net at the end (Thursday or Friday) of the week in question. It is strongly recommended that the students try out the exercises before they look at the solution.

New exercises for the seminar: Because of the regulation that there will be only 6 seminars this fall, there are some changes in the list of exercises that will be announced in due time. The seminars will go every second week, week 36,38,40,42,44,46. The exercises for next week (36) are from Rice Chapt. 2, 33, 34, 37, 40, 45, 60, 61.

Note that there is a printing maistake in the textbook reference in the syllabus. It should be third edition of Rice's book, not second edition as written. Only third edition can be found in Academica bookshop.
