Various messages - Workshops in general, today's workshop, Canvas, ...

About the workshop format:
The idea is a working environment for you to start on next week's problems, discuss and ask questions. It is not supposed to be a quiet zone. Form groups if you like. Later you could as well review previous seminar problems that you need to have explained.
(The arrangement resembles the seminar format at UiBergen's "Math 2".)

About the problem set for seminar 1:
One problem requires theory not covered until tomorrow. (Maybe we should have put that up as an extra question: which problem is not yet possible?) It is 2004#1d. There is plenty else to start on today.

Canvas and where to find information:
We acknowledge that you shouldn't have to look in several information channels to get updates. Here is what we will do:

  • The schedule is on the schedule page, there is nothing to do about that - but as far as we understand, you get that feed into your calendar anyway.
  • Seminar assignments are posted in the schedule too.
  • We understand that you get push-feed from these Messages, so it will be used for ... messages.
  • Everything else should be available in Canvas - either files uploaded to Canvas or external material linked to from within Canvas.
That means in particular that you do not need to go to /studier/emner/sv/oekonomi/ECON4120/h18/ to find the material linked to under the headlines "Lecture Notes" and "Seminar material (old exam problems, old student manuals, ++)" - you can find it in Canvas instead. And you don't have to remember my (Nils') homepage.
  • There will be "Canvas-only" material - seminar solutions, compulsory term paper ... - so you need Canvas.

We hope that the structure of the Canvas page has the right level of detail. Might change if/when needed.
