To discuss the curriculum of a given course is a good way to acquire new knowledge in an effective manner. A study group often consists of between 2-6 students, who meet regularly throughout the semester, usually once a week. There is no given key on how a study group should organize one self, but we strongly recommend that the first meeting in the group is used for setting fellow intentions, clarifying expectations and organizing a schedule for the group.
Study groups are well equipped for:
- Understanding and discussing different perspectives in the course
- Allot the reading between the different members of the study group
- Promote student activities and responsibility for one own's learning
- Promote teamwork and dialogue between the students
Conditions for a well working study group:
- Dependence on students taking responsibility for the organisation of the group, as well as the carrying-out of the groups intentions
- All students in a study group are expected to contribute to the group's learning environment (no free-passengers)
