This interdisciplinary course aims to provide the participants with practical skills to plan, design and perform systematic monitoring and research-based evaluations of health interventions.
The course addresses specific techniques for applying research methods in the evaluation process. It seeks to convey the practical aspects of performing an evaluation (time- and budget constraints) and delineates strategies for the application of evaluation results. The course emphasizes the quality of information in the evaluation process, and evaluation as a mechanism for organizational learning.
The topic of case studies and examples throughout the course are from the following two areas: Mental health interventions in multicultural populations and responses to trauma; and national child immunization programmes.

- The methodological toolkit: The OECD evaluation models: The Logical Framework Approach and Results-Based Management; Participatory Evaluations;
- Indicators and methodologies in evaluations of mental health interventions and immunization programmes;
- Group-work on case studies;
- Practical skills and organization of evaluations;
- Strategies for communicating and reporting.

It is possible to take the exam up to 3 times. If you withdraw from the exam after the deadline or during the exam, this will be counted as an examination attempt.
