HME4201 – Topics in Health Management
Course content
EUROPAMO is a 11-day intensive course that will be held in Jesolo (40 km north of Venice, Italy) in June 2013. The course is a joint project between Erasmus University Rotterdam, University of Oslo (Departement of Health Management and Health Economics), University of Bologna and Management Center Innsbruck.
Learning outcome
The main purpose of the course is to develop an understanding on factors that determine the scope and policy of cross-border care and medical tourism within the European Union. Topics that will be adressed are;
-consumer mobility
-insurance and reimbursement
-E-health and communication
-sustainable medical tourism
-economic and policy perspectives on cross-border trade
Admission
A total of 37 master students from the four collaborating partners will be accepted for particpation, of which 9-12 may be recruited from the Department of Health Management and Health Economics, University of Oslo.
Application procedure:
Applicants must write a motivation letter of about 250 words. The motivation letter must state why this course is important to you/ how this course is valuable for your degree, and must be sent to birthe.neset@medisin.uio.no within the application deadline: December 15, 2012.
If you are offered a place and accept, the registration for this course is binding.
Funding and Cost
Accomodation will be organized for the entire student group in a hotel in Jesolo (Bed and Breakfast) in 3, 4 or 5-bed rooms.60-75% of the costs (accommodation, transfer to site visits, etc.) will be funded through the European Commission, the remaining 25-40% need to be covered by the student participating (approx. 170 - 230 Euro per student for the entire 13-days program).
Travel costs per student will be funded up to a maximum of 500 Euro.

Teaching
All participants are to undertake preparational reading in their home countries. During the stay in Jesolo, lectures on various topics from different perspectives will be held by an international team of academic teachers. The participating students are to work in multinational workgropus guided by a lecturer where each group is assigned a particular topic (problem-based learning). The course also contains on-site visits to various health facilities in the Veneto region.
