Welcome to STK4900/9900!
Welcome to the Spring 2026 version of STK4900/9900. This year the course will be taught by Johan Pensar (lecturer) and Alfonso Diz-Lois Palomares (teaching assistant).
Teaching: The course follows an intensive format over two separate weeks: February 9th-13th (week 7) and March 16th-20th (week 12). During these two weeks, we will each day have lectures in the morning 9:15-12:00(-ish), followed by a lunch break, and then exercise classes 12:15-16:00 (both paper-and-pen and computer exercises). We will be using R as programming language in the computer exercises and examples during the lectures.?
Course material: It will be possible to learn a lot from the lecture slides and exercise classes. The recommended textbook is?Regression methods in biostatistics by Vittinghoff el al. (see Syllabus for more details), which is available online through the UiO library.
Exam: We will have a final written exam on May 13th. As support material for the exam, you may bring with you all printed/hand-written resources, in addition to an approved calculator. Note also that the course has two mandatory assignments that must be approved for you to be allowed to take the final exam.
More information about the course will be given during the first lecture, but don't hesitate to send me (Johan) an email if you have any questions about the course before that.
