A deferred/new exam in STK4900/9900 (project exam and written exam) for students who were ill or absent (for valid reasons) at the ordinary exam and for students who failed the ordinary exam, will be arranged as follows:
- The written exam will be held August 18th or August 19th.
- The project exam will be made available at the course web-page August 19th. The deadline will be August 30th.
Note that the deadline for registration for a deferred/new exam is August 7th; see here for details. PhD-students who are not able to register via StudentWeb should send an email to Marie Wennesland (email: mariewen@math.uio.no).
Best wishes for the written exam to all STK4900/9900-students! Remember to bring an approved calculator at the exam.
The lecturer will not able to take round at the exam, so Sven Ove Samelsen will do that. A solution to the written exam will be posted on the course web-page once the exam is concluded.
For the project exam, the students in STK4900 should do problems 1-3, while the students in STK9900 should do problems 1, 2 and 4.
The deadline for handing in the solutions is Friday May 27th at 2 pm. Note that you are not allowed to collaborate with others on the project exam.
The lectures on Friday 6 May will be a bit shorter than those for the other days. We will therfore move the exercise classes forward to 12.15 (and end no later than 14.00)

The lectures Friday 6 May will take place in Lille auditorium in Kristen Nyaard's house (i.e. the old informatics building)
The exercise classes in part two of the course will be organized a bit differently than in part one. In part two we will not split the students in two groups and the exercise classes will only take place at the datalab at Kurssal 1250 in Kristine Bonnevies hus (the biology building). Here the students will first do the practical exercises and then the theoretical ones.
Here is a list of student who have got the compulsory assignment approved. If you have handed in the assignment you should check the list and report to the lecturer if you don't find your name on the list. The compulsory assignment will be discussed at the lectures Monday 2 May.
The exam in STK4900/9900 consists of a project exam and a written exam. The written exam takes place 9 June, see here for further information. The project exam will be handed out 18 May. The deadline for handing in the solution of the project exam is Friday 27 May. Note that you are not allowed to collaborate with others on the project exam.
If you want to see how a project exam may look like, you may take a look at the one from last year. It is found under messages on the course page from last year (cf. the message of May 19th).
Question f) in the compulsory assignment should read: "What weight would you predict for a grown-up bear being 65 inches long and measuring 40 inches around the chest?" (i.e. "65 inches long", not "65 inches tall").
The compulsory assignment is now given under Compulsory assignment . The deadline is Friday 1 April at 2 pm. The compulsory assignment has to be approved to be allowed to take the final exam.

The students should bring a (simple) calculator for the theoretical exercises.
The lectures and exercise classes in STK4900/STK9900 will take place Monday to Friday in weeks 10 og 18 (7-11 March and 2-6 May). In these weeks there will be lectures 9.15-12.00 and exercise classes 13.15-16.00. Information on rooms are given here
